ABSTRACT
Seidavi AR, Mirhosseini SZ, Shivazad M, Chamani M, Sadeghi AA, Pourseify R, PCR for detection of Bifidobacterium spp in broiler intestine, Online J Vet Res, 12 (2) :38-46, 2008. A PCR was developed for rapid
detection of bifidobacterium spp. in broiler intestine samples using two 16S rRNA gene Bifidobacterium
genus-specific primers, Bif164-f and Bif662-r. No differences were found
between the duodenum, jejunum, ileum and cecum of
broilers at 4, 14 and 30 days of age. Bifidobacterium
spp. was detected in 75% of birds. 72, 78 and 75.0%
samples were positive for naturally occurring bifidobacterium
spp at 4, 14 and 30 days, respectively. This PCR
allowed a rapid, highly specific and reproducible detection of Bifidobacterium Spp. genus
in poultry gut samples.
