Parés i Casanova PM, Sarma
K, Allometric analysis
of skull parameters
of Xisqueta sheep,
Online J Vet Res, 15
(2):136-141, 2011. Craniological
measurements were taken from 44 skulls of adult and subadult Xisqueta sheep. An allometric formula was
applied to the morphometrical data, and the relative growth of each
character
to total length of skull was analyzed. Twelve characteristics were
correlated
with total cranial length. Dental
length
and some of the widths of the neurocranium and
splanchnocranium had positive
allometric growth
compared with total skull length. Only height of the foramen magnum had
a
negative allometric growth compared
to total
skull length. An isometry or proportional growth was not
noted on
any of the studied dimensions.
