ABSTRACT

Gangwar C, Prasad S, Prasad JK, Singh SP, Verma AK., Effect of nitric oxide (NO) synthase inhibitor on progesterone secretion, NO concentration and estrous cycle length in buffaloes, Online J Vet Res, 14 (1):49-55, 2010. Nitric oxide inhibitor stimulated progesterone secretion, decreased serum concentration of nitrate/nitrite and extended functional life of the corpus luteum in buffaloes. Nitric oxide inhibitor could be used to minimize early embryonic losses due to luteal insufficiency in buffaloes.

Key words: Buffaloes, Corpus luteum function, Nitric oxide, NOS inhibitor (L-NAME), Ovulatory cycle, Progesterone (P4).
