Second Mission - "Storm Front in Otheaba"
SD 90826.0835

The USS AURORA was contacted whilst enroute to SB GAMMA to divert course to the Otheaba Sector to investigate the disappearance of the USS TYPHOON NCC-57110

The TYPHOON was investigating the disruption of normal shipping in the Otheaba sector when communications were suddenly lost.

SB GAMMA later contacted the AURORA advising that further disruptions to normal shipping had been reported. An emergency message had been received from a vessel under attack in that sector which indicated that a Starfleet vessel was involved in the attack.

The AURORA is ordered to secure the sector and recover the TYPHOON if possible.   Should recovery of the TYPHOON prove to be impossible, the AURORA is ordered to destroy the vessel.

Mission Log

The USS AURORA arrived in the Otheaba Sector and was soon confronted by a number of vessels; one of which was the TYPHOON. The ensuing battle, turned into a game of cat and mouse with the AURORA constantly attacking and retreating to nurse their wounds.

A number of prisoners were taken after a failed boarding of the AURORA. Interrogations of these prisoners yielded information indicating that 'Janni' was in command of the enemy fleet.

Janni escaped from the confines of the AURORA, and returned to command the enemy fleet. Through successful attacks, the enemy fleet was greatly diminished in size.

The AURORA sought refuge in the corona of a nearby star. After waiting for an opportune moment the AURORA emerged from the stars core, however soon after the battling vessels were struck by a force wave eminating from a solar flare, possibly caused by the AURORA

All vessels but the AURORA and the TYPHOON were destroyed, and the TYPHOON was rendered inoperative. A rescue mission ensued, and all survivors from the enemy crew were beamed over into the brig of the AURORA.

The AURORA then turned to rescue the Starfleet crew of the TYPHOON who had been imprisoned by Janni and his men. During this phase of the mission, an unexpected complication occurred. The TYPHOON who had been deemed unsalvageable was now on a collision course with the planet housing the imprisoned crew.

A risky plan was implemented, stopping the TYPHOON dead in space, and placing serious stress upon the hulls of both Storm class vessels.

The TYPHOON's crew were beamed back aboard their ship, and after two deep space tugs arrived, the AURORA departed at best speed for SB GAMMA to commence repairs, and to receive new orders
