Youpi: a joy exclamation!
For us and
many other Australian students, it is a joy to learn French.
A joy to be able to understand the texts of Victor Hugo, Sartre or Saint-Exupéry,
listen to the songs of Brel, Mc Solaar or Cabrel, watch films with Gérard
Depardieu or Juliette Binoche and hear the jokes from Coluche, the Inconnus
or from Valérie Lemercier. It is also a joy that we can meet
French people, swiss, Belgians, Quebecois, and Mauicians, and speak
with them, understand and freely exchange our ideas. With this Joy we
have the pleasure of creating a new web page that incorporates all these
things together on the one site. We
hope that you will enjoy reading it. And if other Australian schools
or students would like to join us on the Internet to enrich this magazine
with their articles and their ideas, you are more than welcome. All
you need to do is click on the Forum or Contact and send us an article
in French and in English about a subject that concerns the French-speaking
world.
Long
live France, Long live French-speaking world. Youpi!!The
students from Firbank College at Brighton - Melbourne - Australia (years

N°2 12/2001
Here is the second edition of the magazine Youpi. Of course, being the
season of goodwill it contains an article on Christmas in France but
there is more than that. We have also included an article on one of
the great masters, impressionist painter Claude Monet. We have a look
at fashion with another artist, Jean-Paul Gaultier. In the cinema section
this month we look at La Ville est Tranquille, a film that talks about
the problems in society in Marseille. Meanwhile in Paris we have an
article about Gustave Eiffel and his famous 320 metre tower. Finally
there is a taste of literature, with the book that all French people
from 7 to 77 years of age have read, "Le Petit Prince". So,
only 6 articles but its quality that matters not quantity.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Youpi!
