The Citadel

The Citadel was home to Egypt's rulers for 700 years. Building commenced in 1176 and continued through various rulers up to the 1800's.There are 3 beautiful mosques (with strict dress rules), several palaces that now house museums and terraces with views over the city. They are still excavating and finding new buildings.
