History

Overview

Rancho was born in the year 2000 at a luxurious Brisbane residence affectionately known as "Rancho Relaxo". Emerging on the Brisbane social calendar as a wild Christmas party, it quickly gained its reputation as a 'must attend' event. Six years on, and with its roots firmly planted in the Global A list party scene, Rancho organizer (Rancho Corp) regularly fields calls from agents of famous celebrities trying to increase their media profile by attending the illustrious event. Jenna Jameson, Kylie Minogue, Vince Vaughn, General Schwartzkof, Anna Kornikova and Mike Tyson (in his better years) have all vied for the chance to attend. However, in keeping with tradition, Rancho Corp ensure only Brisbane's favourite celebrities are present: Ian Hewitson, Bad Tommy, Mike 'the pain train' Raine, Daniel 'Chocolate Love' Egan, Mitch 'Beazelbub' Brown, the Harlem Globe Trotters, Andrew 'I am only for you baby' Lynch et cetera. Moreover, and quite apart from the celebrity attendance, the real source of Rancho's unique atmosphere is the youth, energy and vibrance of Brisbane's home grown Rancho A list.

Past Events

Following the success of its first year, Rancho's second year saw the AM/FM radio replaced with Rancho Relaxo's integrated home entertainment system, boys & girls lazing by the pool in the evening warmth, and the party pushing through until the early hours of morning. It was a great night, but not enough to satisfy Rancho Corp's high expectations. Enter Rancho 02 and the first full scale assault by partygoers on Rancho Corp's Brookfield campus. The home stereo was replaced with Pioneer turntables, the interior of the house locked - and the focus turned to the humping mess of Prada adorned partygoers that had formed on the balcony.

03 was bigger again, boasting 200 + partygoers rocking the quant Brookfield location until sunrise. Given its continued success Rancho Corp decided to branch out into other locations securing a new Noosa campus and holding an inaugural affiliated event – Rancho Noosa.

Rancho 04 was again bigger and better boasting 300+ party goers, however, 05 was to be the crowning glory of the event. Loaded up with a 40,000 watt sound system, 4 metric tones of ice, corporate sponsorship and over 500 hundred eager party-goers Rancho 05 crossed new boundaries. More than merely an event, in 2005 Rancho became an institution.

Going Urban

Sadly, in 2006 Rancho Corp made the decision to sell its Brookfield campus. It was obvious to the Board that Rancho had to live on but how, and more importantly, where? Again Rancho 06 had to be bigger and better than previous events, it had to be modern it had to be funky, then it hit, it had to be – urban. Quickly seizing the Rancho Urban concept, Rancho Corp went about finding and securing a suitable inner city premises that was not only large enough to hold Rancho 06, but that shared Rancho Urban’s trendy, chic image and allowed party goers to continue express their best 06’ summer styles.

Game On

On December 1 the institution that is Rancho goes urban. Rancho Corp has successfully secured a suitable warehouse venue in Brisbane’s New Farm district. Like previous years Rancho Urban is set to be the biggest, loudest, smoothest Rancho yet. Like Prada...crossed with Levi's, like Noosa - without the sand, like previous Ranchos - just urban.
