The next meeting will be on 8th May 2010.

There is a charge $25.00 each half year.

People read their own writing - poetry or prose, fact or fiction - to the group from a relaxed sitting position within a circle of friendly faces! Up to ten minutes is allowed for each reading [Longer works are read over a several meetings or in some cases, several years]. After a reading there is time for other members of the Group to respond, with an emphasis on being helpful to the writer - eg. what did the poem or prose mean to the listener; are there any improvements that the listener can suggest. If the writer wishes comments on any specific aspect of the piece, they briefly mention this before reading. The writer is free to use, or not to use any of the suggestions made, as is their wish & there is no pressure in this regard.

nb. Reading your own writing to a group for the first time may seem quite an ordeal, but remember that those listening at WEA Writers Group have all been through this experience, so we understand.

After the meeting there is an informal discussion & chat at a nearby coffee shop.
