la mama

After a very long development process the production of this inventive and original play is under way. After months of hectic labour, it's finally happening. The actors are flowing, the sound and lights are brilliant, and I doubt if there's ever been a set like it in the Courthouse. Even the slime is impressive - a sort of lurid green under the lights. An audience member asked for a sample the other night. [It was actually stripped from the rocks at Williamstown.] If you're in Melbourne, don't miss Mysterium

Alison Croggon's review at State of The Arts. A longer version of the same at http://theatrenotes.blogspot.com

Mysterium is a full length play for five actors. Its style verges on magical realism and borrows from the form of the Medieval miracle play. It explores the tension between the irrational and rational, science and religion. It mixes the absurdly comic with Byronic Romance and Gothic horror.
